Whitsunday Sailing Club’s 2021 season opening takes place on Australia Day, 26th January 2021 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The event includes a blessing of the fleet, a sailpast by the club’s off beach dinghies and offshore keelboats, as well as family entertainment on and off the water.
“On shore, there will be something for the whole family to enjoy at this years’ event” said Event Manager Caitlin Mcluskey. “We’ll have Mr Poppa here from 10am doing his balloons as well as glitter tattoos, live music from 12pm, kid’s activities to keep them entertained and the downstairs bar will be open to keep the parents entertained! The guys from STAR FM are joining us as well from 10am with prizes and giveaways too”
On the water, there will be opportunities to go for a sail in one of the club’s Quest dinghies or Hobie Waves or there will be a short race for the offshore keelboats within Pioneer Bay. The sailpast by the club’s fleet will be held at 11:30, with prizes for the best dressed boat as well as spot prizes.
