More than just a Sailing Club!
Dear Members and Guests
Whitsunday Sailing Club has been a vital part of the community since 1972 We are incredibly proud of the contributions, we have been able to make to the sailing community, Airlie Beach and visitors to the Whitsundays in that time. We have had many members and of course funded the great cause that is Sailing.
Unfortunately, the current national situation with COVID-19 has now resulted in circumstances which required the Federal Government to make the decision for us to close our Sailing Club. We fully support this decision. The very grassroots of our organisation are in supporting the community, and right now, closing our business is the most courageous thing we can do. We’re saving lives.
Whilst our bar, food and gaming facilities have ceased as at midday on Monday 23rd of March and we have been forced to stand down our loyal staff. For the moment the Marina, Hardstand Marine Training Facilities and administration will remain operational for our Club members.
Because of Social distancing we have been forced to place all our sailing events on hold until this pandemic is over therefore there will be no twilight or weekend racing and we are forced to cancel the Easter Regatta.
To make the most of this time of stand down we are remodelling the Clubs structure. painting, cleaning and generally set the Club up to be all the better for our eventual reopening.
We don’t know now how long we will be closed for. We have been proud to provide first-class facilities to of our members and visitors, and we look forward to doing that again as soon as possible.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us up until this point. Please join us on our social media channels, where we will hopefully be able to keep you updated on the Club over the following weeks and months.
We will be back better than ever.
Yours sincerely,
Michael
