The Whitsunday Islands

The Whitsunday Islands are a cruiser's paradise, with 74 islands to explore, flat water and many sheltered anchorages to settle into at night.

Anchoring Tips

The recommended ground tackle for most Whitsunday anchoring is all chain cable with a CQR (plough) anchor.  Any yacht in the Whitsundays should carry at least 55 metres of chain.

Mooring – moorings off the Whitsunday Sailing Club are privately owned. Be aware of the weather forecast – anchors can lift causing boats to drift and become a hazard to other boats.
