Cruising Sailing in Whitsundays
The Whitsunday Sailing Club is home to many Cruising Yachties. With such a varied and accessible back yard, cruisers can spend months exploring the uniqueness of the Whitsundays.
The Club holds regular stand alone racing events for cruising boats as well as with the Offshore Racing Division. We have a series with annual prize giving.
If you are visiting this area, the one essential item to have onboard is the cruiser's bible the "100 Magic Miles". This book has every anchorage in the Whitsundays and shows approaches, best anchoring spots and what you can expect to find. Filled with loads of pertinent information, this book is a must have.
If you are arriving at Airlie Beach, it is important to note that the moorings in Pioneer Bay are privately owned and can't just be picked up, however there is plenty of room to anchor between them - just be aware when the northerlies blow, dragging is a real threat, so have plenty of chain out.
Once at anchor, you are also welcome to frequent the club and use the dinghy pontoon and facilities. All you have to do is come to the club and see one of our friendly staff and for a very minimal fee, you can become a temporary member and enjoy our club as we all do.
